The LA City Council needs to hear from all of us, loud and clear. The Public Bank LA Coalition is calling on the City to fully fund the Public Bank feasibility study in this year’s budget.
We’ve already secured unanimous Council support to move forward. Now we need the City Council to approve the $460,000 to launch the feasibility plan. This is a small line item with enormous potential to save millions, fund affordable housing, build climate-resilient infrastructure, and support LA’s small businesses and community lenders.
Meanwhile, LA faces a $1 billion budget deficit. Thousands of city workers could be furloughed. Federal threats to local funding are growing. We can’t afford to keep sending millions to Wall Street. We need local control of our money NOW to fund city needs, prevent the next budget deficit, and invest in LA’s future.
But it starts with the feasibility study, and that won’t happen without your public comment at LA’s budget hearings. Speak up and help make this real.
